SkinBRIGHT® Membership

Treating discoloration can be a frustrating experience, as it is a difficult condition to manage, lasers can make it worse, and certain skincare treatments can be ineffective. We see many patients who are incredibly skeptical in starting a new skincare routine, because they have tried so many treatments and invested so much money without results.

What is Melasma?

Melasma treatment in La Jolla is one of the most common treatments we offer for discoloration at La Jolla Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center.

Melasma is a common pigmentation disorder that causes brown patches to appear on the skin, primarily on the face. The most common areas for melasma to appear are on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip and nose. Melasma can be due to sun exposure, hormonal changes during pregnancy or from birth control.

Melasma is a chronic skin condition that needs to be managed 12 months out of the year. Chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes and melasma take constant management and are never “cured,” which is why we developed an ongoing membership to help you manage your skin condition.

What is the treatment for Melasma?

Dr. Shirazi sees her Melasma patients every 2-3 months to adjust their skincare regimens depending on the status of their discoloration and the seasons/time of year. CONSISTENCY is one of the most important factors in resolving discoloration, and adherence to a skincare regimen and sun protection is of upmost importance.

Dr. Shirazi’s melasma patients are on a combination of both “over-the-counter” AziMD Skincare that can be purchased online AND prescription AziMD products, which can only be issued to patients of Dr. Shirazi who have been treated via virtual appointment.

For the best results for melasma treatment in La Jolla, a medical evaluation and other prescriptions may be necessary in order to achieve desired results.

This medication, similar to birth control risks, may increase the risk of blood clot. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double your dose. If you take a dose that is late, wait at least 6 hours before you take your next dose. The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of this medicine. Make sure you tell us if you have any other medical problems, especially:
